In a London choked by a thick, sulphurous fog, a blind war veteran finds himself destitute and alone. After a bitter quarrel with an old friend, he wanders the desolate streets, his senses straining against the oppressive darkness. A chance encounter with a mysterious, well-dressed stranger offers him a way out—a simple task of being a silent witness for a private meeting, in exchange for a much-needed five pounds.
But the assignment turns deadly when the midnight conference erupts into violence. Hidden behind a screen, he hears a murder—and is struck unconscious. He awakens in a car speeding through the dawn, driven by a woman embroiled in the crime. Her motives are unclear, and as she realizes he is blind, her plans shift. Now he must rely on his wits to survive, trapped between a fugitive’s compassion and a killer’s reach.
