Enoch Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) was an English novelist, who also wrote in the fields of journalism, propaganda and film. He is best known for are the Clayhanger trilogy and The Old Wives' Tale, which draw on his experience of life in the Potteries district of Staffordshire, referred to in his novels as "the Five Towns."
