"Frank Belknap Long has lived through a major part of science fiction history in the U.S., has known most of the writers personally, or has corresponded with them, and has, with his own writing, helped shape the field when most of us were still in our early teens." -- Ray Bradbury

Frank Belknap Long (1901-1994) was a prolific early author of fantasy, horror, and science fiction. A member of the Lovecraft circle -- and a protege of Lovecraft -- he wrote a number of classic weird stories during the first four decades of Weird Tales. He went on to write for The Green Lantern, Superman, Captain Marvel, and other Golden Age comics.

Long received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement (1978), the Bram Stoker Award for Lifetime Achievement (1987), and the First Fandom Hall of Fame Award (1977).

"It Was the Day of the Robot" is Frank Belknap Long's most important science-fiction novel, written in the tradition of "Brave New World" and "1984." This long-lost science fiction masterpiece concerns a machine that computed men's futures . . . and the one person who dared to tamper with its infallible system!
