John Milton (1608-1674) was an English poet, polemicist, a scholarly man of letters, and a civil servant for the Commonwealth of England under Oliver Cromwell, best known for his epic poem Paradise Lost. This annotated volume of his minor poems includes the related poems L'Allegro and Il Penseroso and Comus, a "masque on chastity."
