Anatole France (1844-1924) was a French poet, journalist, novelist, and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature. In "La Rotisserie de la Reine Pedauque" (1893) he ridicules belief in the occult. It is his most celebrated novel; a vast tableau of life in 18th century France.
